Statements and your specialist

One cast bar is the minimum for 1 kg gold. The vaulting fee is charged on value per metal, monthly in arrears. The delivery charge applies to each physical delivery. Cash left over after a purchase stays credited to your client account and pays those fees. SA Bullion Management (Pty) Ltd (FSP 21984) and SA Bullion Investor Services (Pty) Ltd (FSP 45151) are authorised financial services providers.

The process

Six steps to offshore investing

  1. Illustration at live prices

You receive the brochure and an investment illustration at current metal prices.

  2. Application and compliance

One facility form, screened by Sovereign Trust and signed off by Mauritius Commercial Bank.

  3. Fund in dollars

You transfer US dollars to SA Bullion International, or use Currency Assist at no charge for the administrative work.

  4. Deal and vault

The dealing desk transacts and Brinks conveys the metal to your vault, two to three days after funds land.

  5. Statements, ongoing

A transaction advice on day one, then monthly statements and quarterly reports.

  6. Sell back or take delivery

Sell the metal back to the refinery it came from, or take physical delivery through Brinks.

Before the account opens

What compliance needs

  • A certified copy of your passport or ID
  • Certified proof of address, under three months old
  • Documented proof of the source of your funds

Proof of where the funds come from is a hard anti-money-laundering requirement. Companies and trusts have their own checklists, so write to business@sabullion.co.za. You can appoint an additional signatory when you apply, with viewing rights or full transactional rights.

Compliance

Every account is verified first.

Sovereign Trust screens one facility form and Mauritius Commercial Bank signs it off, usually in about three business days.
